A man was stabbed in the stomach and robbed as he walked along a street in Hempstead early Sunday morning, Nassau police said.

The victim, 24, was walking on Main Street at Fulton Avenue at 12:15 a.m. when three men approached him and demanded his wallet, police said.

During the course of the robbery, one of the men stabbed the victim in the stomach, police said. The three then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and released.

One of the men was described as about 26 years old, wearing a white shirt with blue stripes and having short, curly hair. Police did not have a description of the other two men.
