It appears to have all came out in the wash -- but not to a good end for a Uniondale man who was arrested Monday morning in a burglary police said he committed last week at a local coin-operated laundry.

Nassau County police said Kevin Troope, 34, of Oak Street, broke into the Duds and Fluff Laundromat on Fulton Avenue in Uniondale last Wednesday morning and tried to pry open the change machines with a crowbar.

He wasn't successful, police said, but he caused $1,000 worth of damage to the machines -- and the incident was recorded on surveillance video, according to police.

On Monday morning, police said, Troope returned to the laundry at about 6 a.m. and was spotted by an employee as he slept in a chair.

The employee called the Hempstead police. Troope was arrested at the laundry, police said.

Troope was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. He also was found to have an open warrant for petty larceny, police said.

He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
