Nassau County police are investigating after a collision near Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre left a man on a motorcycle seriously injured.

The man, 31, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Peninsula Boulevard at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, police said. The motorcycle collided with a 2003 Toyota Camry while its female driver, 68, was turning into the hospital's south entrance.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals. The man suffered injuries to his head and torso and was listed in critical condition, police said, while the female driver had minor injuries.

Police do not believe any criminality was involved, but homicide detectives are still investigating. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
