Burglars botched a break-in Friday in Baldwin after a neighbor called the cops, Nassau police said.

Suspects Calvin Honegan, 23, of 38 Shonnard Ave., and Joel Mauzoul, 23, of 185 Randall Ave., both of Freeport, had been trying to break into the home, on Mildred Road, at about 12:40 p.m. when the neighbor spotted them, police said. The burglars fled from the yard and the responding cops chased them.

Police who caught up with them found their black bag with a hammer and screwdriver.

Honegan and Mauzoul were arrested on charges that include burglary, criminal mischief, criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. The duo were to be arraigned Saturday; details from those proceedings weren't available Saturday night.

Police also charged them with a burglary from Oct. 1, also in Baldwin, on Bertha Drive. It wasn't immediately clear how detectives linked them to that crime.
