Police did not catch the gun-carrying perpetrator of a standoff at a home in Deer Park Wednesday night, officials said.

Now, Suffolk County police are searching for the man they said kicked in the door to the home on Sammis Avenue and threatened an ex-girlfriend and two other women.

The ex-girlfriend hid in a closet following the break-in at 4:31 p.m. and later managed to escape unharmed. The two friends immediately fled, police said. No one was injured.

Police said officers closed off portions of Deer Park Avenue between Commack Road and Washington Avenue during the standoff and said a later search of the home found no one inside.

Police said witnesses told them the man was armed with a handgun, but said that was under investigation.
