Police: North Merrick gas station robbed
A gas station attendant wrapping up his shift in North Merrick on Friday evening was robbed of the evening's till, Nassau police said.
The 54-year-old male victim had just finished his shift at the Valero station, located at 1470 Jerusalem Ave., around 11 p.m. and was in the parking lot walking to his car when he was confronted by a man with a silver-colored handgun, authorities said.
The suspect, who was wearing a mask, forced the attendant back into the station and stole approximately $550 in cash before fleeing on foot eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as 6-foot-2 and was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, dark pants, brown work boots and tan gloves.
Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
