Police: Oceanside man sets fire to own house
A man set fire to his house Monday, then fled in a 2010 Lexus, police said.
He was arrested a short time later, not far from the home in Oceanside. Police could not say Tuesday why the fire was set.
Cirino A. Patane, 36, of 2804 Woods Ave., caused more than $15,000 to the home - damaging a second-floor living room, Nassau County police said.
Police said the walls, floor, furniture and electronics were damaged in the fire.
Police said Patane "intentionally ignited" the fire - but could not immediately say if there were other occupants in the home at the time or what might have triggered the act.
He was charged with third-degree arson, third-degree attempted arson, second-degree criminal mischief and with the excessive use of his car horn.
He was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
