Two pedestrians were injured, one of them seriously, when they were struck by a marked patrol car while walking in the road Thursday evening in Manhasset, police said.

Nassau County police said the accident on Community Drive occurred just after 6 p.m. on “a dimly lit portion” of the northbound roadway.

The victims, both male, age 17 and 19, were both wearing dark clothing, police said.

Police did not release the identities of either teen.

Police said the 19-year-old suffered serious head injuries and was transported to a hospital via police ambulance.

The 17-year-old declined medical attention, police said.

The identity of the officer also was not released. Police said that officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The patrol car was impounded for safety tests, but police said there was “no apparent criminality at this time.”
