Pedestrian, 69, dies after being hit by vehicle in Uniondale, say police
A 69-year-old pedestrian who sustained severe head trauma when he was struck by a car Friday morning in Uniondale has died of his injuries, Nassau County police said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified by police, was pronounced dead at 4:10 p.m. Friday. Nassau police disclosed his death shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday in a news release.
Police said a 19-year-old man was driving the 2012 Chevrolet north on Nostrand Avenue at 11:10 a.m. when he made a right turn on Jerusalem Avenue and hit the male pedestrian, who was crossing Jerusalem from south to north.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital by a Nassau County police ambulance, police said.
A brake and safety test was performed on the vehicle at the scene, and police said there is no apparent criminality. The investigation is continuing.
