Police probe burglaries in Baldwin and Roosevelt
Nassau County police are investigating two separate burglaries that took place early Sunday in Baldwin and Roosevelt.
In the first case, a woman who lives on Talmadge Drive in Baldwin woke up on Sunday to find her living-room window open and items on her desk knocked over, police said.
The woman then discovered that her pocketbook was missing, according to police. It had contained cash, credit cards and papers.
Police said the theft happened sometime between 1 and 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.
In the second case, police said a 32-year-old man sleeping in his Henry Street home in Roosevelt suddenly awoke to see a man in his bedroom.
The victim chased the man, but the man got out of the home through a side door and ran away, police said. The victim was not injured.
The man had gotten away with three cellphones and cash, according to police. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, white shorts and was described as being in his late teens or early twenties.
