Detectives are investigating a Tuesday night robbery in which a man, disguising part of his face with his shirt and demanding money, made off with an unknown amount of cash from a Wantagh ice cream shop, Nassau County police said.

The robber -- described as being in his 20s and wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and gray or tan baseball cap -- entered the Carvel at 3245 Merrick Rd. at 10:40 p.m. with his shirt pulled up over the bottom part of his face, police said in a Wednesday news release.

He started yelling and demanding cash from a 19-year-old female employee, who complied, police said. No injuries were reported, according to police.

Anyone with information can call Nassau County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-244-TIPS.
