Police: Three suspected in robbery arrested in Jericho after chase
A trio of suspected armed robbers were arrested after a police chase through Mineola that ended with the getaway car crashing Monday afternoon in Jericho, police said.
Police received a call about 3 p.m. from a residence on Lincoln Avenuein Mineola, where the victim, a male in his 30s, said two men armed with handguns stole "thousands of dollars" from his apartment, said Insp. Kenneth Lack, a police spokesman.
"They knocked on his door, when he opened up the door, they had guns," said Lack. "They forced their way into the apartment." The men fled and the victim, who was not injured, called 911.
Investigators believe the victim was targeted, Lack said.
Officers from the Third Precinct in Williston Park heard the robbery call and spotted the suspects' black Audi eastbound on Jericho Turnpike near Roslyn Road, but "they refused to pull over," Lack said.
The two patrol cars pursued the Audi, which "rammed the patrol cars" causing "minor damage" and continued fleeing east on Jericho Turnpike, entering the eastbound Long Island Expressway, Lack said. The officers were not injured.
Officers from the Second Precinct in Woodbury began pursuing the Audi, which got a flat tire and left the expressway on exit 41 South in Jericho and "lost control of the car and crashed," Lack said.
Police arrested a woman and two men, all in their early 20s. Their names were not immediately available, Lack said. Police have not located the guns. Charges are pending.
