A gang of four people surrounded a Hempstead teen on a street in West Hempstead Thursday night, stealing his BlackBerry before fleeing, police said.

The strong-armed robbery took place on Lindbergh Street at about 11 p.m., according to Nassau County police.

The teen was not injured.

Police said the victim, identified only as a 16-year-old, was walking east on Lindbergh when the four assailants surrounded him and ordered him "not to move."

They took his BlackBerry, police said, then fled in a black car toward Hempstead Avenue.

One of the assailants was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, while two wore black hooded sweatshirts. The fourth wore a black T-shirt with a silver design.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
