The facade of a group of buildings at Broadway and Franklin Avenue in Hewlett collapsed Tuesday, but no one appeared to be injured, police said.
The brickwork of the one-story commercial building collapsed. A woman who had been at a nearby red light said her car was struck by bricks.
Part of Broadway was closed south of New Street.
It's the second facade collapse on the Island in a week. Another collapse May 25 at an Amityville strip mall filled a parking lot with rubble but did not injure anyone. With Bill Bennett
