Police say man riding bike in Plainview hit woman, tried to rob her
Nassau County police said they're looking for a man who, while riding a bicycle Sunday afternoon in Plainview, struck a woman in the face with a plastic golf club and then tried to rob her.
Second Squad detectives said the victim, a 50-year-old woman, was walking on Wilson Place at about 3 p.m. when the man, riding a BMX-style bike, hit her across the face with the plastic club.
The man then tried unsuccessfully to grab the woman's purse before riding off, police said.
The woman was treated at an area hospital for abrasions and lacerations, police said.
