Police search for Hempstead jewel thief
Nassau County police are searching for a man who attacked a jewelry store security guard in Hempstead last week before making off with a pair of silver earrings.
Police said the suspect entered the Gold Town Jewelers on Main Street at about 6:15 p.m. Oct. 5 and asked to see a pair of square, silver earrings with multiple clear stones.

The suspect is described as 6-foot-2 and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, back jeans and white sneakers.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
