Police search for would-be robber
Nassau police are searching for two men who tackled a third to the ground and attempted to rob him in Elmont on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old victim was walking on Waldorf Avenue near Hempstead Turnpike at about 11:40 p.m. when two men came up from behind.
The men tackled the victim to the ground, then took an iPod that the victim had held in his hand, police said. The victim fought, police said, and retrieved his iPod from the suspects.
The two suspects then ran south on Waldorf Avenue.
One man was 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds and wearing a royal blue sweatshirt; the second man was 6 feet tall, about 190 pounds, wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt.
Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-244-TIPS.
