Nassau County detectives were investigating a robbery Tuesday at an East Meadow grocery store, police said.

A 54-year-old woman was loading groceries in her car around 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Stop & Shop, 2425 Hempstead Tpke., when a man pushed the victim against her car and ripped her pocketbook from her shoulder, police said in a news release.

The man, who was described as wearing a hooded sweatshirt that covered his face, immediately jumped onto a black mountain bicycle. He was last seen riding westbound on Hempstead Turnpike.

Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this robbery call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
