Police responding to a call of shots fired in Lakeview late Tuesday found a 35-year-old man behind the wheel of a car. He had been shot once in the head and shoulder.

The man told Nassau County officers he had driven a friend to nearby Park Side Avenue at 10:25 p.m., police said. He said once the friend got out of the car, another man approached, brandished a pistol and began shooting, police said.
