Police seek suspect in Valley Stream holdup

Fifth Squad detectives are looking for a gun-wielding man who tried to rob a Valley Stream food market late Monday, Nassau County police said.

Police said the suspect, armed with a black handgun, entered the 24/7 Food Mart at 50 W. Sunrise Hwy. at about 11:25 p.m. and demanded that the attendant open the cash register.

The suspect fled without getting any cash when two customers entered the store, police said. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as thin, wearing jeans, black shoes and an orange T-shirt with a white T-shirt over it.
