Two men, armed with handguns, robbed a South Hempstead home during a home invasion just before noon Thursday, police said.

Nassau County police said the robbers entered the house on May Street through an unlocked front door, went to a bedroom and demanded money from the 69-year-old female resident. Police said one of the robbers then scoured the house, taking cash, jewelry, electronics, cellphones and even the house phone. No one was injured.

A family member, who arrived home shortly after the robbery, called police.

The suspects fled in a vehicle, but police could not immediately supply a description. Police said one of the robbers wore a mask, but additional details were not immediately available.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
