Nassau County police are searching for two men who allegedly carjacked a 25-year-old man Friday night in Hempstead.

The unidentified victim was sitting in his 2002 Audi A4 in front of 20 Ann St. at 11:15 p.m. when two men called out his name, detectives said.

When the victim exited the car to walk to the men, one of the suspects struck him in the head with a silver and black handgun, police said. The suspect then fired one shot into the air while the victim fled on foot, police said.

Police said the suspect then fled the scene east on Greenwich Street in the Audi. The second suspect followed in the same direction in an older model Toyota Camry, police said.

The victim refused medical assistance at the scene.

Police said they recovered one live 9-mm round and a 9-mm shell casing at the scene.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this robbery to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
