Two men armed with handguns beat and robbed another man in Roosevelt early Monday, Nassau County police said.

The victim was walking west on East Clinton Avenue at about 5:30 a.m. when two men approached him, police said.

The first man, armed with a silver semiautomatic handgun, pointed it at the victim's face as both attackers pushed him to the ground. The second man had a black handgun, also a semiautomatic, police said.

Both men began hitting the victim about the head and face.

The men took a cellphone, an unspecified amount of cash and a blue knapsack with personal papers before fleeing on foot toward Nassau Road.

The victim was treated and released from a nearby hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
