Police seek three who entered storm-damaged store
Three men entered the closed store about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday while construction workers were at the Staples at 235 Rockaway Tpke., which is closed due to Sandy damage, police said.
A 28-year-old female worker spotted two unknown men in the front of the store as she retrieved supplies from the area, police said.
The men demanded cash and forced her at gunpoint to the front of the store where a 30-year-old male worker was doing payroll, police said.
The third unknown assailant was in the rear of the store. No one was injured, but the men left with what police said was an unknown amount of cash. They fled eastbound on foot, police said.
Police described the first suspect as about 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a gray wool hat, gray sweater and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as about 30 years old, five feet, 9 inches tall and 180 pounds with short braids, a bear and wearing a red jacket and blue jeans.
Police could not provide a description of the third suspect.
