A Brooklyn man was killed while operating his motorcycle Friday after hitting a car on the Southern State Parkway, State Police said.

Dwayne R. Hyde, 34, was traveling east on the Southern State east of Exit 17 at about 11:35 p.m. when he struck the passenger side of a 2004 Toyota Camry, driven by Muzakkir Z. Bhatt, 21, of Westbury, according to a news release from police on Saturday.

Police said the motorcycle left the road and struck the south shoulder guardrail, causing Hyde and his passenger, Rosaly Rodriguez, 24, of Jamaica, Queens, to be thrown from the motorcycle.

Hyde and Rodriguez were taken to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, where Hyde died of his injuries, police said. Police said that Rodriguez was being treated for “non-life-threatening” injuries.

Police asked anyone with information on the crash to call State Police in Farmingdale at 631-756-3300. All calls will be confidential.
