An East Hills man stopped for speeding Wednesday on the Northern State Parkway in Lake Success faces a drunken driving charge, State Police said.

David Rose, 48, was driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe east on the parkway at 83 mph in a posted 55 mph zone at about 9:30 p.m., police said.

After Rose was pulled over near New Hyde Park Road, Exit 26, troopers said they "detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage." Rose also had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech, troopers said.

He failed sobriety tests and produced a breath-analyzer reading of .10 percent, police said.

Rose is charged with DWI and traffic violations and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 3.
