Police said two Rockville Centre officers used a stun gun on a burglar who tried to grab one of their weapons during an arrest in a Rockville Centre home Monday night.

Nassau County police said the incident occurred Monday at 7:39 p.m. when the two officers responded to a house alarm on Allen Drive. The officers found the rear door open and Jerry Valery, 39, of North Long Beach Road, Freeport, inside with "a bag containing items from the home," police said.

When the officers tried to arrest Valery, police said he fought with them and tried to grab one of their weapons. The officers then used a Taser on Valery, police said.

Valery was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree attempted robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree robbery and resisting arrest. He was scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

The two officers were taken to a hospital for treatment of hand and leg injuries, police said. Valery was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
