Police have released a surveillance image of a driver they say fled the scene of a head-on collision in March in Sea Cliff, leaving the victim seriously injured.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Hammond Road and Altamont Avenue in Sea Cliff at about 12:15 p.m. on March 19, Nassau County police said, asking the public's help identifying the driver.

Police said the victim, who was not identified, was seriously injured but survived. Details about the injuries were not available.

Police said the suspect was driving a 2003 Lincoln Navigator south on Hammond at "a high rate of speed in the wrong lane," then turned east onto Altamont -- striking the victim's vehicle head-on. The suspect then fled the scene.

Police ask anyone with information about the crash to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
