Police: Teen beaten, robbed in Freeport
An 18-year-old man walking home on a street in Freeport late Thursday night was attacked by three assailants, struck in the head with a handgun and robbed at gunpoint, Nassau County police said.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of facial and scalp lacerations.
Police said the robbery trio stole the victim’s cell phone.
The incident occurred on Colonial Avenue at 10:19 p.m.
Police said as the victim walked toward his home a man passing by suddenly struck him in the head with a silver handgun and the two other assailants, wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks, appeared and held him down, going through his pockets — all as the original attacker held him at gunpoint.
The trio then fled onto Powell Street, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
