Police: Teen sexually assaulted in Hicksville

A 16-year-old girl walking down a street in Hicksville was assaulted in broad daylight Tuesday by a man, police said, who grabbed her buttocks before she was able to escape.

Now Nassau County police are searching for the suspect in the sexual assault — and are asking your help finding him.

The attack occurred on West Old Country Road at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday when the girl was approached by the man, who police said grabbed her — and then attempted to pull her toward him. Somehow, the girl was able to break free and run. The attacker fled across Old Country Road north toward Jerusalem Avenue, police said.

The man is described as being in his 30s — maybe about 35 years old, police said — and about 5-foot-10 with a thin-to-medium build, short curly black hair, a thin moustache and dark eyes. He was said to be wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the attack to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
