A 16-year-old boy was slashed in the face, possibly with a box-cutter, while watching a game at the "War 4 Peace" basketball tournament at Centennial Park in Roosevelt Sunday at about 1 p.m., police said.

The identity of the victim was not released.

Nassau County police said he suffered a cut from "his ear to chin" and said he was treated at a hospital.

Police said the incident occurred during a fight after "approximately 100 male youths, ages 12-17," surrounded the victim. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear, police said.

Police said the victim also was punched in the incident.

No other injuries were reported, police said.

The tournament was sponsored by the Roosevelt Lions Club and was held at the park on East Centennial Avenue.
