Two men were arrested Saturday for attempting to burglarize a man's home in Bayville and for stealing items from his car, Nassau police said.

Police said the homeowner, who was awoken by his dog's barking, saw Christopher Crisci, 18, of 11 Summit View Dr., Bayville, and Allan Nunez, 17, of 166 Mill River Rd., Oyster Bay, rummaging through his car at about 3:30 a.m.

The homeowner, whom police did not identify, confronted the thieves at his front door when they tried to enter his home, police said.

Crisci and Nunez are being charged each with second-degree attempted burglary, two counts of petite larceny and a fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police said it isn't known what items were stolen. Among the belongings police said the homeowner reported missing were keys and an identification tag.

The two men are to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
