Two Queens men were charged with attempted burglary, accused of trying to distract a Point Lookout man and break into his house.
Nassau County police said one of the men rang the doorbell of a Point Lookout home about 5:20 p.m. Thursday on Lido Boulevard and then ran to the back of the house as the resident answered the door.
The 27-year-old resident heard a window screen break and saw a man trying to enter the house through a side window, police said.
The suspect then walked to the front of the house and the resident saw him and a second man leave in a black Range Rover, police said. The resident called police who stopped the car nearby and made the arrests.
Wilmer Barona, 25, of College Point and Jonathan Cordoba, 27, of Flushing were both charged with second-degree attempted burglary. Barona was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. They were arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
