Two men were arrested after trying to burglarize a Westbury home on Friday, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Officers from the second precinct responded to a call of a burglary in progress at a Glen Road home at about 2:24 p.m. Friday. Officers arriving on the scene saw two men who fit a witness' description on a nearby corner, according to a police spokeswoman.

The men - Luis Perez, 20, of the Bronx, and Miguel Jesus Hidalgo, 18, from Manhattan - fled when officers approached them. After a brief foot chase, police caught and arrested the two men.

Investigators found both men had gloves and jewelry was recovered near an open window in the back of the Glen Road home, police said.

Perez and Hidalgo are charged with second-degree burglary and possession of burglar tools. They are scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
