A Uniondale male was shot in the back as he returned home early Saturday morning, Nassau County police said.

The 33-year-old unidentified man was in the driveway of his Maple Avenue home shortly after midnight when he heard gunshots fired behind him and felt a bullet pierce his back.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
