Police: Unlicensed man driving stolen car
An Elmont man was arrested Thursday night on charges of possessing a stolen car, driving without a license and giving police a false name, State Police said.
Nestor Gonzalez, 30, was driving a gray Honda Civic at about 9:20 p.m. on the Northern State Parkway near New Hyde Park Road, Exit 26, when a state trooper stopped him for traffic violations, according to a report issued Friday by troopers at the Lake Success barracks.
State Police said that during their investigation they found that Gonzalez provided a false name, did not have a driver's license and that the car he was driving was reported stolen.
Gonzalez was held for arraignment in First District Court, Hempstead, on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree criminal impersonation and several traffic violations.
