Police: Visitor to Nassau jail had pills
A Baldwin woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with promoting prison contraband after she was caught in the visiting area of the Nassau County Correctional Center with narcotics -- and her 4-year-old son present, police said.
Nassau County police said Nicole Colletti, 28, of Verity Lane, was arrested Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. and charged with two counts each of first-degree and second-degree promoting prison contraband, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. She was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said Colletti was observed on surveillance video "acting suspiciously in the visiting area" of the East Meadow jail and said a search turned up the contraband.
They said the boy was later released to a grandmother. Police did not specify what contraband was found other than the pills.
