An 81-year-old woman died after being ejected from her car during a crash involving another vehicle and a tractor trailer at a busy Hicksville intersection, Nassau County police said Saturday.

The accident happened about 4:20 p.m. Friday on North Broadway near Newbridge Road, where routes 106 and 107 split, police said.

The woman, who wasn't immediately identified, was driving her 2001 Toyota east on Princess Street when the car sped up and crossed into the southbound lanes of North Broadway. Her car continued over the center median into northbound traffic, hitting a 2014 Ford Focus driven by a 31-year-old man, police said.

The Toyota ricocheted into the tractor trailer, and the woman was thrown from her car on impact, according to police.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. No other injuries were reported.
