Police: Woman had counterfeit cash, shotgun

A Wyandanch woman was arrested Monday night in Syosset after, police said, 76 counterfeit $10 bills and a loaded shotgun were found in the trunk of her car during a routine traffic stop.

Jennifer D. Mitchell, 33, of 323 New Ave., was arrested after the stop on Miller Road on 7:10 p.m. and charged with three counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and environmental conservation law, loaded shotgun in a vehicle, as well as with several vehicle and traffic law violations, police said. She was arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead and held pending $25,000 bail.

Nassau County police said Second Precinct officers noticed there was no front license plate on the car she was driving southbound on Miller Road.

After finding her vehicle had a suspended registration, police conducted a vehicle search and found the fraudulent $10 bills and the shotgun.
