A woman waiting for food inside a Chinese restaurant in Uniondale had her pocketbook stolen by a man who police said grabbed it from her shoulder -- and exited the store.

The suspect was last seen fleeing in a silver car headed westbound on Front Street, Nassau County police said.

Police said the robbery occurred inside the China Kitchen restaurant on Front Street at about 8 p.m. The victim, identified only as a 35-year-old woman, was not injured.

Police said the woman was waiting for her food when she was approached from behind by the assailant, believed to be about 5-foot-10 and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
