A home burglary was foiled Monday night in Baldwin when an 81-year-old woman, sleeping in a chair, woke up and yelled when she saw a man in the hallway, causing him to leave the house on the run, Nassau County police said.

The burglary occurred at 8 p.m., when a man, thin and wearing a baseball cap, entered an Everett Court residence through an unlocked side door, police said. The man took nothing from the home, and no injuries were reported, police said.
