Nassau County police are investigating a robbery that took place in Franklin Square on Friday night.

Fifth Squad detectives said a 27-year-old woman was walking by herself in the parking lot at 1040 Hempstead Turnpike around 6:50 p.m. when a man came up behind her, grabbed her beige pocketbook and knocked her to the ground. Police said there were no injuries.

The suspect, described as 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, fled on foot with the purse and was last seen running through the backyard of a Lloyd Street residence.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
