Queens man arrested in Hempstead work fraud case

A Queens man has been arrested for costing his employer tens of thousands of dollars by fraudulently entering work hours into the company's work log, police said Thursday.
Nassau police said that between February and September 2013, Jeff Jeannot, 27, of St. Albans, was working as a Hempstead branch manager for Labor Ready, a company that finds temporary and permanent employment for its workers in a variety of different industries. Police said that during his stint with the company, Jeannot entered false information into Labor Ready's intranet site for his girlfriend, logging hours she didn't work.
Police said the scheme cost Labor Ready about an $80,000.
Jeannot surrendered to police Thursday and was arrested without incident. He is charged with second-degree grand larceny and falsifying business records, and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
