A 26-year-old Queens man was ordered held without bail Tuesday following his arrest on an attempted murder charge after police said he fired a gun "numerous times" at a man late Sunday in Uniondale.

Donovan Huff-Rose, of 64-34 Grand Central Pkwy., Forest Hills, and his intended victim, who was not injured in the shooting, have "a prior history of resentment and violence towards each other," Nassau County police said Tuesday.

The nature of their ongoing dispute was not characterized by police in the statement.

At his arraignment Tuesday Huff-Rose pleaded not guilty and was remanded with no bail to Nassau County jail. Huff-Rose, who is represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, is scheduled to return Oct. 24. to Nassau County Court, Mineola.

Police said that, after an investigation, detectives arrested Huff-Rose Monday at his home, charging him with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Police said the shooting occurred at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, as the victim, described only as a 26-year-old man, stood on the front steps of his home on Northgate Drive. The victim spotted "an unknown subject" who police said turned out to be Huff-Rose, near the corner of Jerusalem Avenue -- and said the man then "began shooting a gun numerous times" in the direction of the victim.

The man then fled in a black Lexus, police said.
