Queens man arrested in robbery after victim IDs him, cops say

A Queens man was arrested and charged Saturday in a July 7 robbery after a victim recognized him at the Long Island Rail Road station in Jamaica, Nassau County police said.

Police said the man, Tyrone Rispers, 34, had been driving a livery cab on July 7 at the railroad station in Jamaica when he picked up the victim, a 25-year-old woman who wanted a ride to Long Island.

Rispers drove the woman to Park Avenue and Waverly Place in East Meadow before pulling over and demanding money, police said.

Rispers then punched the woman in the face and tried to take her pocketbook, but in the struggle the woman fell out of the livery cab, police aid.

The woman suffered minor injuries to her leg, shoulder and back, as well as a loose tooth, police said, while Rispers got away without any proceeds.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday, the woman spotted Rispers in the LIRR station terminal and contacted New York City police, who arrested him, Nassau police said.

Rispers was charged with second-degree robbery and was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
