Queens man charged with DWI, state police says
A Queens man faces a felony drunken driving charge after driving off from an accident Friday on the Meadowbrook State Parkway, State Police said.
Marcin Grajdek, 25, of Forest Hills, left the scene after his white Toyota hit a Toyota Yaris at about 7:21 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the parkway, just north of the Ocean Parkway, police said.
Troopers responding to a call for the accident found the Yaris on the shoulder of the roadway, with damage to its rear, police said.
Troopers then discovered Grajdek's car a few miles north of the accident scene.
He provided a breath-analyzer reading of 0.15 percent, nearly two times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, police said.
He was arrested on a charge of felony DWI because he had a previous drunken driving conviction in the past 10 years, police said.
He also is charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
He was remanded on a bail of $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond at his arraignment Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
He is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday.
