A Queens woman was killed when her car slammed into the back of a tractor trailer parked on the side of the Long Island Expressway early Sunday morning, Nassau police said. The resulting investigation closed down all westbound lanes of the LIE for hours.

The 27-year-old Bayside woman, whom police did not identify, was driving a 2004 Infiniti west on the LIE near Exit 39, Glen Cove Road, about 3:30 a.m. when her car struck the back of the tractor trailer.

The large truck had been parked on the side of the highway, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the crash, police said.

At one point, a light pole was knocked down and fell in the roadway, police said, although it was unclear how that was related to the crash. Several cars ran over the pole, police said, but there were no injuries.

Authorities closed all westbound lanes of the LIE at Exit 39 and Exit 40, Jericho Turnpike, for hours as they investigated the crash. The lanes were reopened about 9:30 a.m.

Police said there appears to be no criminality in this case.
