Cops: Facebook threat against Massapequa high school lands former students in trouble
Two former Massapequa students were arraigned Thursday on charges of "making a terroristic threat" to the school on Facebook.
Richard Delpesce, 17, of Seamans Neck Rd., Seaford, and Corinne Terris, 19, of Roy Ave., Massapequa, posted comments about bringing guns to school on the social media site between Monday night and early Tuesday afternoon, according to a felony complaint.
But in a statement to police, Terris said her comments, written in response to Delpesce, were a joke. "I graduated from Massapequa High School and have no intention of going on school grounds. I was kidding," she wrote in the statement.
She added: "I am sorry I made that stupid comment jokingly."
A police investigation determined "that no students were endangered at any time," Nassau police said in a news release.
The pair surrendered to authorities on Wednesday. Delpesce and Terris were released on their own recognizance after their arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead. Each pleaded not guilty.
Terris is also charged with criminal solicitation.
She is scheduled to also appear in Mineola on Wednesday. Delpesce's next court date is Monday, also in Mineola.
Delpesce was represented by Legal Aid at his arraignment. Terris' attorney Richard Lerner could not be reached.
Terris' father declined to comment. He said his daughter is a licensed cosmetologist.
In her statement, Terris said Delpesce had commented that he was kicked out of high schools in Massapequa and Levittown "but graduated before all of you." Delpesce had added "so everyone who was a scared [expletive] . . . of guns can go [expletive]" Terris' statement shows.
"You bring the guns. I'll bring the weed," Terris wrote, according to court records.
Delpesce responded: "Let's do it," court records show.
Terris said: "Bake out the school, so there is a smokescreen and then start blowing heads off," according to court records.
Seventh Squad detectives said a high school dean learned of the comments when a parent called.
