Road closures announced for Seaford parade

Nassau County police are announcing several road closures Saturday evening for the Seaford Fire Department parade, which begins at 5 p.m.

Sunrise Highway will have intermittent traffic stops from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Washington Avenue.

Merrick Road will be closed between Seaford Avenue and the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway (Route 135) from about 5 to 7 p.m.

Eastbound exits from the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway will be closed on Sunrise Highway from 4:55 to 5:35 p.m. and Merrick Road from 5:10 to 7 p.m.

All times are subject to change based on the parade's duration, police said.

The parade will assemble in the Seaford LIRR parking lot and proceed southbound on Washington Avenue across Sunrise Highway to Merrick Road.

It will proceed westbound on Merrick Road to Seamans Neck Road, turning northbound toward the Seaford Firehouse at Southard Avenue and Waverly Avenue.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
