Robber shoots at Freeport woman, police say

A woman in Freeport barely escaped being shot when she was robbed near her Randall Avenue home Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Nassau police are looking for the gunman who they said approached the 33-year-old woman on Sunrise Highway about 2:15 p.m. and took her cellphone, then told her they were going to walk to her house together, where he demanded she give him "no less than $5,000."
Once they were in front of the victim's house, she grabbed the gun, but the suspect yanked it back, firing two shots that missed her. Police said the suspect then fled south on foot on North Brookside Avenue. No injuries were reported.
Police said the suspect was about 21 years old and 6 feet tall with a medium build and wearing a black mask, black gloves, a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and black sneakers.
